On the 5th November 2022 our Mila was born unknowing to us she was born with a birth defect Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula and Oseophageal Atresia, this is a birth defect that is rare and will occur in 1 in 3500 births. Unfortunately it is very rare to be diagnosed during pregnancy so once our local hospital suspected this is what Mila had we was blue lighted up to the Evelina the same night Mila was born. At one day old Mila had the surgery to repair the defect in the Evelina and for the first two weeks of her life stayed in the NICU in St.Thomas. Mila is now 10 months old and is thriving we will never be able to repay the surgeons and nurses that looked after Mila and helped us through this scary time but doing this half Marathon and raising money will hopefully help other babies and children that are being cared for in the Evelina.
