Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For every £25 donated, a cm of my hair will be cut off in February 2017. My hair is currently ~50 cm (that's £1250) once the £1300 limit is passed I will shave it all off. If over 17 cm of hair is cut, it will go to the Little Princess Trust who provide wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment. The money will go to Cancer Research UK where it will be invested in finding and administrating new treatments and new ways to detect cancer earlier. It will be invested to save lives.
I want to tell you a little about why I'm doing this.
Almost 3 years ago my uncle - a father figure to me - passed away due to cancer. This really tore my heart. I couldn't believe it, I went through the motions of grief - blaming myself for not being there, blaming every possible object or food or situation as the causes, the doctors, the nurses, the treatments. I was angry! I wanted to know why he was gone and no one could do anything about it.
Later I thought about it a great deal and I realised that almost everyone I knew has come into contact with a situation like this - maybe it wasn't a direct relative. In the end we're all touched by the devastation cancer can cause.
I've been thinking for a long time about what I want to do to help. Now, I'm not a researcher and I'm not an expert in the field, but I can help fund that research.
