Story
" Oh no...not again! " I hear you cry!! I know that I promised never to ask for any more sponsorships after my 3 charity cycles....BUT that was before the sudden death of young Josh Merrick.
Last January , aged only 19, Josh died in his sleep totally unexpectedly. He was a very fit young man who played rugby, and was looking forward to a career in the Royal Navy.
Josh and his family have been friends of ours for several years, and it is heartbreaking to see their pain. To lose a child is something that most of us can only begin to imagine.
I have commited to do this 10km run in memory of Josh and to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young. As I am not a natural runner, I am really struggling with my training programme, especially in this cold and often wet weather. It is a challenge both physically and mentally, as well as emotionally. With every step of my training, Josh and his family are in my mind, and the thought of their grief keeps me going.
Asking for sponsorship is always difficult, as I well know!! But I also know that it always amazes me how generous and supportive my friends are at times like this. Every little £ helps, and I just ask that If you can make a donation no matter how small, then please do.
On behalf of the Merrick Family, CRY and myself a huge thankyou for your support, as always..
Love Liesl (Lee).x
