We work in disadvantaged communities to improve literacy skills and life chances

Story

This year LID Publishing is very proud to be collaborating with the National Literacy Trust, marking both our 25th Anniversaries this year; and LID has signed the Vision for Literacy Business Pledge 2018. As the fifth largest publisher in Europe for business books, this partnership makes perfect sense.

Research from the National Literacy Trust shows that the achievement gap between our country’s richest and poorest children could take 40 years to close, a problem further exacerbated by the fact that 35% of adults in the UK’s most deprived areas lack the literacy skills expected of an 11-year-old.

Alongside 63 other leading businesses that include John Lewis, Clarks and Metro Bank, along with backing from the Department for Education, LID Publishing has pledged to join the fight to tackle the UK’s literacy crisis.

At LID Publishing, we are committed to this business pledge and we will do our best to alleviate these problems through our network, channels and resources; and we also will be fundraising throughout the year.

We are passionate about putting the joy into reading and have just opened a new LID Library in the City of London. We have more activities planned for the year and hope you will support us in our fundraising efforts to help further this crucial work by the National Literacy Trust. Let’s help get people reading!
