We need your help now to ensure reform protects the public interest and free speech

The Libel Reform Campaign (English PEN, Index on Censorship and Sense About Science), with the support of 55,000 people and 60 civic society organisations, is campaigning for reform of our unfair and out dated libel laws. The UK Government published a Draft Defamation Bill in March 2011 – the first chance in a century to reform the laws in the interests of fairness, the public interest and free speech. In coming months, we need to ensure that changes made to the laws are substantial and meaningful. All donations, large or small, will make a difference.

You can add your voice by signing the petition for libel reform at http://www.libelreform.org/sign.

We work to ensure the public interest in sound science and evidence is recognised in public life and policy making. A small team working with thousands of supporters, from leading researchers to community groups, we focus on difficult issues where evidence is neglected, politicised or misleading.
