We need your help now to ensure reform protects the public interest and free speech

The Defamation Bill 2012 is being discussed in the House of Lords. This means the end of our campaign to reform the laws is in sight. You can read the first House of Lords debate here http://bit.ly/Rf0rjO Look at how many references there were to the threat of the libel laws to science, consumer debate and citizens. This is thanks to your help.

There is still resistance to change from some parts of Government. We think the way is now open to get a new public interest defence into the Bill, we have to ensure MPs and Peers make this significant chance while they still can.

The Libel Reform Campaign (English PEN, Index on Censorship and Sense About Science), with the support of 60,000 people and 100 civic society organisations, is campaigning for reform of our unfair and out dated libel laws. All donations, large or small, will make a difference.
