Story

The YMCA of South Palm Beach County is non-profit organization that has been in the Boca Raton community since 1972, each Fall we embark on our Annual Giving Campaign to educate and protect the precious programs and services we provide; and to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate. We would appreciate your support.

Each summer we have the ability to operate out of 17 pools throughout Palm Beach county providing FREE swim lessons to organizations such as Milagro Center, Florence Fuller, Pearl City aftercare, and summer camp program (just to name a few). We were able to provide 710 lessons at no-cost to the families or not-for-profit organizations this summer.

You can be a donor who makes a difference by providing financial assistance for low-income Palm Beach County residents as 79% of children in households with incomes less than $50,000 have few to no swimming skills. Our Drowning Prevention Program, which is multifaceted with our Community Outreach and Adaptive Aquatics we focus on having all individuals learn how to be safer in and around the water.

As we ensure quality swim programs are offered to everyone, we are very proud of our Adaptive Swim Program which serves the families of children with special needs. The majority of the families already have a number of high-cost bills, such as ABA therapy, doctor visits, and other weekly appointments because of their child’s diagnosis. With that being said, paying for swim lessons may be low on their priority list. Currently, we are able to provide eight 30 minute private lessons at no cost because the full amount has been subsidized through generous donors This year we have been able to serve 71 youth and adults this year.

Florida is ranks near the top of the nation in accidental drownings. Since September 16th 2022, there have been 67 fatal youth drownings in the state of Florida. Please consider to make an impactful gift to help our youth.

  • $85-1 youth life saving group swim lessons
  • $1,200- 14 youth life saving group swim lessons
  • $172- 1 youth or adult with diverse abilities private 1:1 instruction

Thank you in advance for your help!
