Story
Back in September of last year I ran my first half marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK and it ranks very high amongst one of the proudest days of my life. I was elated that I managed to both finish and beat my fundraising target....
So here I am again, ready to run twice the distance and my first marathon; ready to ask you to donate your hard earned money for such a worthy cause. My family has and continues to see first hand what this does to somebody and how ruthless dementia is.
My Granda has been living with dementia for a number of years and has recently gotten to the stage of which being cared for at home by my grandma is no longer an option. It has been hard for me to come to terms with him going into care, but we know it is what is best for him to receive the 24hr help that will make his life as comfortable as possible.
I'm supporting Alzheimer's Research UK as I believe it is so important look at this as a long term goal. Dementia isn't going to be cured overnight. But we need to start somewhere. The 2014 dementia UK report stated that only £90 per person living with dementia was spent on research every year. It's vital that we increase these numbers and think about the future possibility of prevention.
Thanks for taking your time to read a small part of my story, it really would be thoroughly appreciated if you can spare whatever you can afford. Also, please share my page if you can, that won't cost you a penny.
Thanks in advance
