Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, I'm doing it again. I enjoyed the 2011 cycle so much, I thought I would have another go!!
Let me tell you a bit about the event. The HCPT Cycle to Lourdes – 2013 is a 530 miles cycle through France, starting in Chartres, South West of Paris and ending in Lourdes in the midi-Pyrenees. It will run from Saturday March 23 to Friday March 29, 2013 and involves 6 consecutive days of cycling, with stages ranging from 50 to 115 miles per day. It will also involve climbs totalling in excess of 3500 metres vertical gain over the course of the event, including 3 category climbs.
I completed this event back in 2011, again in support of HCPT, but also as part of my recovery from surgery and chemotherapy for testicular cancer. With fewer ‘complications’ in the lead up to the 2013 event, I hope to beat my 2011 time of 34 hours, 29 minutes!
HCPT – The Pilgrimage Trust is a charity which organises Pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes for children and adults with both physical and mental disabilities. It was founded in 1956 and currently organises trips for around 7000 people per year, from the UK, Europe and further afield, providing a fantastic experience for those who benefit as well as much needed respite for parents and carers. I have been supporting HCPT for over 10 years now and have seen at first hand the smiles on the faces of the children and young adults with disabilities who benefit from the opportunity to travel on pilgrimage holidays provided by HCPT. Its a very humbling and heart-warming sight.
Back in 2011 a fantastic team of 11 cyclists and various support crew raised over £25000 net for HCPT. We hope to exceed that amount in 2013.
Thank you ever so much for sponsoring me. Every penny adds to my determination, as well as swelling the coffers of a truly wonderful cause.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks again,
Liam
