Story
On Sunday 6th October 2013 I will be doing a skydive in aid of Ty Hafan along with three work colleagues. The skydive will be from a height of 13,000 feet and after exiting the aircraft I'll be freefalling at speeds of 120 mph for about 55 seconds.
About Tŷ Hafan
Tŷ Hafan offers comfort, care and support for life-limited children and young people and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the whole family. This comfort and support extends out of the hospice and reaches right into the heart of the family home, and is completely free of charge to the families in Wales who need it.
Tŷ Hafan was established in 1999 and since then has helped over 550 families, who live the dreadful reality that their children with life-limiting conditions may not reach the age of 18.
Children suffer from various conditions, such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis and Celebral Palsy. Some children are diagnosed at birth; others receive no diagnosis or at some point the decision maybe made to stop treatment. As you can imagine, families often feel shocked, confused and isolated. But they are not alone, there is a helping hand and it's called Tŷ Hafan.
Tŷ Hafan is not part of the health service and in
2011-12 received just 10% statutory funding towards
more than £3 million needed to provide care and
support to life-limited families in Wales. To continue
to offer its unique service to families, it relies on the
generosity of the public, its corporate sponsors and
volunteers.
