Story
Hey- I love my bed- I love the safe warm feeling that I get when
I snuggle down for the night. I like knowing all is well with the world- and
after having a good night’s sleep- the world always seems a better place.
Now imagine that you have no bed- no house- no food- no water...
and you are just sleeping on the pavement outside. The concrete hurts your back…
you shiver most of the night…You cannot actually sleep because you are scared
that someone will try and hurt you- its freezing cold and you are starving. You
beg for money- so that you can treat yourself to some actual food. Most people
ignore you or look at you with disgust... Comments such as “Get a job”- do not actually
help them
I don’t think I could
survive a week outside. It seems so lonely. seeing someone each week lose
slowly lose their teeth and hair... not to be able to wash...and for the world
to ignore you. Personal hygiene goes out the window- and most shop keepers do
not want you inside to use their toilet facilities…. Your body weight drops
down to hardly anything… and your body gets sores and cuts through
malnutrition. You know you smell- you feel dirty… yet no one cares…you stop actually
caring about how you look- it’s now all about survival. The world has just
stopped caring about you. Its like you don’t have a place in the world any
more..
I am spending just one night outside- to raise money for the
DENS so that they can provide a hot meal and a bed to the hundreds of people
that are homeless...£20 is a meal and a bed for the night....
Please let me raise as much as possible. Most of us will go home
and have a bath and climb into our bed after this event- sadly others- this
will just be a daily thing.
I know this year is super hard for most of us- and everything is
going up, cost wise… I still have my bed- food in the fridge and my health. If
you even have 1 pound to help this great charity event- that would be amazing.
Thank you x
