In 2001 I had meningitis.  It was an experience that has stayed with me.  After suffering with meningitis I had to learn to walk again, I consider myself lucky as I only have a few small side affects and no major complications. Meningitis affects both the young and the old, it knows no limits on age.  It can take the lives of newborns, and destroy families.  There are so many types and strains.  Thanks to research there are now vaccines available for some of those types, which can save lives.  Having lived through the experience of meningitis I want to help fund vital research to ensure others can survive too, and to help fund research into providing vaccines so others do not have to know the pain.
