Story
I am running the London Marathon to raise money for Sense. I have chosen to fundraise for Sense because I have been inspired by the pupils at St Andrew’s Academy. St Andrew’s is a Special Educational Needs Secondary School that supports children with a range of special needs and learning difficulties to become independent, confident and ready to overcome any challenges they may face. In my year working at St Andrew's, I was mesmerised by the determination, positivity and resilience the students and their families showed, despite the challenges and inequalities that they faced. Therefore, I want to raise money to help ensure that all individuals are given an equal chance to reach their full potential and fight these challenges.
Sense is a charity that believes that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Their experts offer personalised support through their centres, holidays and short breaks, or in people’s own homes. They are here for everyone who needs them, for as long as they need them – providing early intervention for children, helping young people access education, and supporting the transition into adulthood and beyond.
I have never run a race or marathon before so this is a huge challenge for me. I am really excited about the journey and will do my best to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity. Any donation, however big or small, is greatly appreciated 😊.
