Story
So slightly different this one! After COVID it has been difficult for me to 100% say I have completed the London Marathon. Due to two deferrals I ran my own Marathon in 2020 on the date of the cancelled London run and then run the virtual London Marathon in October 2021 with the help of many friends and family. But still I have not run the famous route and refuse to say I have completed this Marathon until I have run those streets and soaked in the atmosphere of the real thing! So 3rd time lucky hey! After saying I would only so 1 Marathon, turns out I have had to do 3 to get where I want. But everything doesn't always turn out as planned, and that is truly the case for those families in the world whose family have been effected by Tuberous Sclerosis. TSC is a genetic condition that can lead to growths in various organs of the body, but those most commonly affected are the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. These growths may also be referred to as tumors but they are not cancerous. When they cause problems it is mainly because of their size and where they are in the body. Having been a carer for my sister who was diagnosed at an early age, I know first hand how this effects every day life for both her and my family. To be able to give something back and represent the TSA team means a lot to me and will be a great stepping stone to raise more in the future.
