What did I get myself into?
To make a long story short: I'm trying to raise £1000 for Child's I Foundation so I can have my ass whooped by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend Roger Gracie. In theory, I'll be sparring with him, but let's be realistic - it's an ass whoopin'. Roger himself has agreed to do this *if* I can raise the £1000. Donate what you can, all you can, if you want to see #LeungVsGracie happen. I promise it will be the most hilarious one sided beating since England played San Marino in football.
To make a long story long: I was asked by my friend @LondonKirsty if I would be inspired to fulfil my "life wish" and raise money for Child's i Foundation at the same time. A "life wish" is that thing that's forever stuck on your to-do list: run a marathon, write a book, and, in my case, get back into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Back in the day, I was oh-so-close to graduating to a blue belt. I stopped training because... well, life happened. But I never forgot how much benefit and enjoyment I got out of training BJJ, and I never got over how I'm still a lousy white belt. Seriously, you show up on day one and you'll get a white belt. I need something to show for my year of training.
So when @LondonKirsty asked me about my "life wish", I thought I didn't just want to just *do* my life wish, I wanted to make it an event to remember. I did what any person with a lack of judgement and a Twitter account would: throw a hail-mary challenge to spar with Roger Gracie and told him I'd raise money to make it happen. Considered by many as one the best BJJ fighters ever, Roger no doubt has 1000 different ways to make me cry in pain. What could go possibly go wrong?
What I didn't count on was Roger accepting the challenge so quickly. A few others started to pick up on it and now I must absolutely make this happen. If... no, WHEN this happens, it'll be recorded so everyone who has donated can witness this comedic beatdown, but #LeungVsGracie can't happen without your help. Hit that donate button already and let's do this!
One more thing... if you asked the children that Child’ s i Foundation support what their life wishes are, you’ll hear:
‘To live with my mom again. I miss her cuddles.'
‘For my parents to find work so that I can go home and they can take care of me.’
‘For someone to love me and sing me to sleep at night.’
It'd be an honour for me to take a world class ass whoopin' to help the great work which this charity does.
Seriously? You're not still looking for me to give you another reason to donate, are you? Go go go!
