Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
The Mayor of Ferndown has agreed to skydive to fundraise for the recently created charity inspired by the Royal Marine Lt John Thornton who was killed in Southern Afghanistan in March aged just 22.
On the 15th November, Cllr Lesley Dedman will make the sponsored tandem skydive with the Army Parachute Association from Netheravon airfield in Wiltshire to boost funds for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation that has been created to encourage and assist young people to climb as high as they can dream.
Lesley, who suffers from vertigo, admits that she never dreamt that one day she would agree to leap from a plane at 13,000.
“I don’t mind flying but agree with the old saying by pilots that you should have as many landings as take-offs. I hope my landing will be a soft one! I’m trying to think more about raising as much money for the JTYAF than about the actual jump. With the support of my contacts, local business, family and friends I hope to raise a significant amount.”
Sponsorship and donations can be made here or in collection tins at the reception desk within the Haskins Garden Centre at Longham. For full information on the foundation visit www.jtyaf.com
