Story
Just weeks away from celebrating her 100th Birthday on 7th May 2021, Dinkie Flowers (stage name Dinkie Stapleton) wants to give something back to the NHS for the great work they have done during the current pandemic.
From the age of three Dinkie has been dancing. Becoming an international ice skater she appeared in such shows as “Puss in Boots” on Ice in 1952, in 1954 she toured with the Tom Arnold “Ice Revue” and danced for the Royal Family in the “Celebrity Ice Gala” at the Queens Ice Club in 1952, which brought a letter of thanks from the Duke of Edinburgh.
Setting up the Dinkie Flowers Stage School for Children, she has taught dance for over 50 years. Staging charity shows at the Shoreham Community Centre and local rest homes, she has injected sunshine into many people’s lives.
At just 98 years young Dinkie made her TV debut tap dancing her way through the auditions to appear on The Greatest Dancer, a British dance competition television series which won her the hearts of the British public.
Never gracefully accepting her advancing years, even well into her nineties, until the current lockdown curtailed it Dinkie has been teaching dance and keep fit classes.
From now until her 100th birthday, to raise money for the “NHS Charities Together”, for 6 days each week Dinkie will be doing 45 minutes keep fit for 3 days and a 20 minute walk on the other 3 days.
Please support Dinkie’s efforts, so that she can support the NHS.
