Story
So back in January I was chatting in a work sense to Judith at the When You Wish charity. We have worked together in a remote capacity on some of their wish events in previous years. A run of the mill work conversation somehow turned into a conversation about their 2020 Arctic Trek....
Fast forward a few months and here I am. I've signed on the dotted line! I am actually going to attempt this!
In February of next year I will be trekking (and probably crying) 70km into the Arctic Circle... Temperatures may dip as low as -30, ill be pulling my own kit harnessed up to an expedition pulk system and sleeping in a tent under the stars.... WHY you ask yourself? Coming from the highlands I know what its like for kids to have limited access to some services that don't seem to make it this far north. In December 2020 the charity will be heading back to lapland in Finland to grant magical Winter wishes of some very poorly children - My support and the Wish pounds that I would like to raise will ensure that on that plane will be seats for some the families from the rural Highland and Islands who meet the charity criteria. A day where the charity invite families to experience "the magic of Lapland" and go in search of Father Christmas. Its an amazing experience and its an important time where precious memories are made. To be able to grant a terminally ill child a wish would be an absolute honour so here I am.
For those living in the highlands please keep an eye out for a special one off fundraising event for my trek. For others, please if you feel you can give anything, 50p or even £1 through this just giving page, I will be forever grateful.
