Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am an employee of Scottish Autism and also have a son who is autistic. The global pandemic has had a devastating effect on charities' ability to fundraise and they have suffered financially like never before. This is my way of doing something to help address that.
I will be running 40 miles to the SA head office in Alloa from my home just outside Dunfermline, taking in a route that will pass our Fife area office and the homes of some of the individuals I help to support. For reasons of security and the confidentiality of those individuals, the route will not be published but a full breakdown of the run will be, including elapsed time. I anticipate the run will take between 8 and 10 hours. The run will take place in April (date TBC) and I plan to start at 4am. This is a solo venture and I will be running entirely alone. My husband Colin will be assisting by providing any nutrition required in the later stages (I don't expect anyone else to suffer by having to get up so early!).
The title of my run is a nod towards how autism affects those who live with the condition. Autistic individuals vary greatly and whilst they can struggle relating to a neurotypical person's interpretation of the world, their unique way of thinking is fascinating and working alongside them is hugely rewarding.
I would be grateful for any support you can offer.
Love and thanks, Lesley
