Fundraising for Saint Francis Hospice
Did you know that a hospice nurse walks 12,000 steps on an average shift? That's around 5 miles every shift!
This spring, I'm taking part in the St Francis Hospice Step up Challenge to step into a nurse's shoes by walking 12,000 steps every day in March and to remember mum. She always supported the hospice.
St Francis Hospice cared for my mum during her final days with such care and compassion. Even before she had a bed, the hospice at home nurse stayed with us all day helping to sort out emergency pain relief and contacting GP's and district nurses. Dad and I couldn't have got through those couple of days without their support.
They helped mum and treated her with such dignity, talking to her constantly, keeping us informed and keeping our spirits up as much as they could in such difficult and heartbreaking circumstances. They truly are angels.
They supported us as a family, especially when we stayed by mum's side for 8 days: they fed us, made us hot drinks, gave us biscuits, gave us pillows, moved the room around so they could give Dad a proper bed after he'd slept on a chair for 5 days. They are STILL supporting us now over 7 months later.
The hospice rely heavily on donations to keep going. They do not get 100% government funding. Over 1700 people every year are supported by Saint Francis Hospice and your support will help them continue this vital work.
£54 pays for an hour of Hospice at Home care for one patient (our hospice at home nurse was with us for over 6 hours one day so that cost over £324)
£194 pays for a patient visit from a community nurse
£202 pays for a day of care for a patient and their family.
Please help me raise money for the hospice and supporting me in my step challenge. Every little helps. Thank you xxx
