Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I hope that you will donate to my cause to give me some much needed encouragement as I am hoping to complete a series of ‘challenges’ this year (or at least to the beginning of May) to raise funds for Age UK Lancashire (AUKL). AUKL relies heavily on the generous donations of the general public and without this they would not be able to reach as many older people as they do and provide vital support.

Challenges will be loosely based around the number 60 and fractions & multiples of 60, and I would appreciate offers from anyone who would like to either sponsor me, accompany/support me in one or more of the challenges, and/or set their own challenge(s). My absolute minimum (but extremely pessimistic) target therefore is 6p, but hopefully between us we can raise considerably more e.g. 60 people raising a minimum of £6.00 would generate a total of £360.00!

Preparations are already being made for two significant physical challenges:

° I have already secured a place for a team in AUKL’s annual 25 Mile Canoe Challenge on 30th March (the date of the event is a half of 60!). My sons and I (and all the other participants) were unable to complete the full course last year due to the weather conditions, and we feel that there is some ‘unfinished business’!

° I hope to complete a personal triathlon at the beginning of May i.e. swimming, cycling, and running on the same day.

There will be other challenges, and I am open to completing any challenges that you may suggest (within reason).

I appreciate that not everyone will be interested or able to take part in physical challenges, but during my triathlon supporters could perhaps commit to a sponsored walk, run, pram push etc. for at least 1 km/mile.

I understand that I can create a team page to include everyone who chooses to be involved or ‘supporters’ can have their own linked page to provide their separate individual fund raising total and a collated overall fund raising achievement for Challenge 60.

Please let me know if there is any way that you are able and willing to help to raise as much money as possible (I already have an offer to hold my coat during the Canoe Challenge!).
