Story
During this crazy surreal time that we are in, I have decided to take part in a challenge, to run and raise money for a wonderful charity. Hope House. #hopehousemiles
I'm not usually one for challenges however I decided to put my big girl pants on and run 50 miles this June. I'm not overly athletic, ran about 20miles since January so it will be a challenge but it's for a good cause.
I know many are fundraising at them moment for wonderful charities and this one is just as wonderful as it supports and helps a friend. A friend who I can't really imagine what life is like because she is so brilliant but this month, not only is it my birthday month it is also Lily's 10th birthday. Lily is a very special girl, and her mummy is my special friend.
Vicky has also challenged herself to run 40 miles this June -together we can do it!!! Virtual support of course - Go Girl!!
For Vicky and her family to have Hope House as a support is amazing, I asked Vicky to put into words what she thought of Hope House to give us an insight to how as a family Hope house are special.
"Lily loves her respite stays at hope house and we as a family have grown to love the staff as our extended family. She laps up every ounce of 1:1 attention she gets and you can see the excitement in her face when we arrive. Their nurses are trained to the highest level and we have total piece of mind that Lily’s care and medical needs are in the best of hands during her stays. Lily’s respite enables us to catch up on some much needed sleep and allow us to do the things with her 3 sisters that aren’t accessible or possible with lily. They once had lily to stay for two weeks while her baby sister spent the time being treated for meningitis in hospital. Their crisis care is always there, they are an absolute lifeline to us and many other other families. Lily’s sisters are also supported by their sibling support team who keep up regular contact and occasionally treat them to a lovely outing. I love going to the hospice, it’s such a happy home from home. I feel relaxed the second I walk through the door."
Hope House is also a support to siblings - I asked Gracie (age 6) what they meant to her and she said; "I love to play with the toys in hope house, I like to have a day out with Mary & Brian (sibling support). We miss lil when she stays at Hope house but we get to spend lots of time with mummy and daddy."
Hope House's Vision;
To ensure that children affected by conditions so serious that they’re not expected to live longer than early adulthood enjoy together with their families the best possible quality of life - with access to specialist care and bereavement support, when and where they need it.
