Story
Superhero Leo, along with his side kicks, Ashley, Dad (Jamie) and Mum (Claire) have signed up for the:
At Home Superheroes powered by Marvel
… Superheroes on Vacation!
17 July to 14 August 2021
We are in the Black Panther SUPER team – led by celebrity team captain Lee Ridley –we are part of a team of fellow Superhero Team mates, racing (virtually) 5 other Celebrity led teams to race a combined total of 55,553km on this epic, fun-packed (virtual) holiday tour!
We are taking part in this to raise money for LimbPower, a charity that has helped us to reach out and connect with other families with children that are limb different/amputees; a community that support each other and help Leo see others just like him; to be friends with as well as look up to. LimbPower organise "I can" camps, which we hope to take Leo to in the near future; as well as providing advice on fitness and helping limb different/amputees get into different sports and activities. You can find out more info here: https://limbpower.com/
We are aiming to reach our goal of traveling at least 28km over the 4 weeks by running, walking, cycling, wheeling, rolling, jumping ... whatever form of movement we can think of! This will be a big undertaking for Leo - born with a little left leg; he had his foot amputated at the age of 1 to aid with the fitting of a prosthetic leg; then, since having hip reconstruction surgery last year, he has had to rebuild his strength in his little leg whilst getting used to a new style of prosthesis; alongside getting an orthosis for his big leg. BUT he has never been one to shy away from a challenge and we will be supporting him all the way - Leo is Mr Incredible and we are extremely proud of his determination and super abilities. So please give what you can and Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement!
