Story
Well we're back...
Last year's challenge forced us both to go well beyond what we thought our limits were. The Indian heat, hills and distance were things we'd prepared well for, but when our legs started to seize up, we discovered that mental barriers are far harder to crack than physical ones. When we considered getting off though, the thought that so many people had enough faith in us to finish and the tandem riders we were cycling alongside, made us keep going.
So this year we're going back for more! For 6 days in November we'll cycle approximately 550km from Ho Chi Minh City (previously Saigon) in Vietnam to Siem Reap in Cambodia. And once again we'll be joined by residents from Norwood's Ravenswood Village, who are able to join us on the ride thanks to some extraordinary men (not many women are strong enough to take on such a task.)
We're hoping to raise £3,500 (approx $7,000) for Norwood, which is the UK's number one charity for Jewish children and their families. It helps thousands of people every year, providing specialist care and support, including fostering and adoption services. It also supports the Ravenswood village, a residential centre which provides care for people of all ages with learning disabilities.
There are a number of ways to sponsor us:
- By donating through this site (the site is totally secure and if you are a taxpayer an extra 28% should be added to your gift at no cost to you)
- If you in the UK - by sending us a cheque payable to Norwood
- If you are in the US - unfortunately you won't be able to donate online in $ but you can either donate directly on this site in £ or send Leora a US check (payable to Leora Singer). Please email me on leora.singer@gs.com with any questions.
You'll be pleased to know our training is in full swing - albeit on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Leora went a bit over the top in August and cycled 100 miles in one day as part of Jon's Crew. And if anyone in London feels like a less extreme challenge, then just get in touch!
Many thanks for any support you're able to give us - it really is what gets us to the top of the steepest hills, without getting off!!
