We are challenging all of our pupils to walk the Seven Hills for Sciennes over the October break and during the rest of October to raise money for the Friends of Sciennes School (FSS) Charity trust, a registered charity who fundraise alongside the Parent Council, to support the Sciennes School pupils and community. Donating through the registered charity allows certain school fundraising efforts to get a boost from gift aid, employer contribution matching and FSS can also apply for grants for the benefit of the school and the school community.
The Seven Hills are: Arthurs Seat, Blackford Hill, Braid Hills, Carlton Hill, Castle Rock, Corstorphine Hill and Craiglockhart Hill.
You can be sponsored per hill or to complete the full hill challenge! Why not take the opportunity to walk together with family and friends - enjoy the fresh air together!
In 2021 we raised nearly £3,000 - we would love to beat that total! Fundraising aims for FSS for 2022/23 include:
- Subsidising places for pupils to attend Lagganlia and Benmore residential trips where they might otherwise be unable to attend due to the cost
- Provision of bike-ability training for pupils
- Provision of swimming lessons for selected pupils
- Funding support for school trips
- In the past, FSS have also funded larger projects such as the playground construction and the purchase of promethean boards and ipads.
