Story
I was very lucky (or possibly unlucky) to secure a place in the ballot for the London Marathon 2021. This means that I do not need to raise any money. However, given that there are so many people in need I thought I should raise some money for the gruelling 26.2 miles.
It was a really difficult decision on which charity to pick. My parents hit the jackpot with having all three major killers of cancer, heart attack and alzheimers. I don't hold out much hope for getting a card off the future king. I could also pick out many international aid agencies such as Wateraid, who provide basic water and sanitation to people around the world.
This time, I decided to choose a charity closer to home. We should all have our basic needs met. We all need a secure roof over our head. Sometimes we forget that these young people we see are the same vulnerable children who have experienced domestic violence, poverty, parents who misuse substances, and neglect. Everybody needs support around them. Llamau is providing a vital service supporting vulnerable young people and women. These young people need all of the support they can get to get on and lead fulfilling lives. Llamau also supports women fleeing domestic violence.
Llamau believe that no young person, woman, or family should ever have to experience homelessness. That's why I'm joining Team Llamau and taking on a challenge this 2021. Llamau are challenging it's supporters to run, jump, swim, walk or pedal for them in 2021. This will create Team Llamau; a group of like-minded individuals who want to make a difference in their community. The effects of the COVID pandemic have been far reaching and severe and so, more than ever, it's important to support the work of Llamau who are helping some of Wales' most vulnerable people. Together we can end homelessness, will you join?
