Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I've chosen to support Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep the specialist Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
Why am I doing this? About a year ago my friend Cláudia was diagnosed with a very rare type of sarcoma. She was put on one of the strongest chemotherapy treatments there are and was the bravest and strongest person (and friend) throughout it all. However, just one year after her diagnosis, and due the aggressiveness of her cancer and the lack of specialised treatments for it, she passed away on the 5th of November this year (2023). She was 34 years old, same age as me, and her life was cut short by this terrible disease that most people have not even heard about. I am doing this in her memmory but also to raise awareness as well as money to one of the few UK charities that support people and also research into this rare form of cancer. More research will lead to the discovery of new drugs or diagnostic tools that will, hopefully, help give a better chance of survival to people diagnosed with sarcoma.
Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community:£1 Could cover the cost of 10 texts to the support line.£10Could be used to buy microscope slides to look at cells in minute detail. £30Could fund one hour of use of a high-powered laboratory microscope. £150 Could fund the support line for a week.Thank you for your support.
