My name is Lenah and I am an accountant by profession. I run a
business called gHawk Accounting http://www.ghawkaccounting.co.uk where I work with small businesses providing business, tax and accounting services.

I am raising funds for Teach a child Africa (TaC) a charity that is close to my heart. TaC is based in Oxford, UK and they raise funds to support vulnerable children in Nyanza province in Kenya to attain secondary school education.

Unlike here in the UK, secondary education in Kenya is not free. Parents have to pay school fees, buy books, stationery, uniforms, and other essential supplies required to have a good education. TaC has developed a network of local committees to identify the most needy children, many of whom are orphans and would otherwise not make it through school.

Without TaC’s help, many children take on responsibilities of being carers and bread winners at an early age. Without a good education or practical skills it is difficult to get a good job, earn an income or provide for themselves and their families.

The girls are at an even greater risk because they may end up being married at an early age, starting their own families and the poverty cycle continues!

My aspiration is to make a difference to at least two children by raising enough funds to pay for their education over 4 years. I am fortunate to have had a good education while growing up in Kenya and it simply is the best gift you can give a child. A good education opens up one’s mind and prepares them to face the world and be ready to take on challenging opportunities to make this world a better place.

It costs around £750 per year to educate a child in a national school.  I am hoping you can join me in helping to make a difference in a child’s life by giving them the best gift of all – a good education. Please give what you can and let’s see what we can do together.
