Story
On Saturday 8 July 2017, two teams from Leman Solicitors will race their way through County Meath in aid of three super charities: Pieta House, which is our primary charity together with Irish Autism Action and; Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. We decided to call it the ‘LeMeath Challenge’.
Our challenge this year involves a swim, paddle board, cycle and run which takes us from Bettystown beach to Trim and lots in between which is a 100km journey. As a sweetener there will be 10 different team challenges that have to be recorded in video, which hopefully no one will ever see!
We are aiming to raise €35,000 for our chosen charities. That’s a tall order and so we really need your help.
Pieta House provides specialised treatment programmes for people who have suicidal ideation or self-harm. In 2016 they received 11,000 phone calls and 6,000 people through their doors. 1 in 5 of us will suffer from depression at some point in our lives.
Irish Autism Action is a parent led charity whose main mission is to improve the lives of people and families living with autism. It does this through its Helpline, Advocacy, Outreach and Autism Friendly Partnerships. The organisation recently present the case to Dáil Éireann for a national autism strategy - instrumental in creating support for the new Autism Bill currently going through the Oireachtas.
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind provides trained guide dogs for visually impaired people, dramatically changing their lives through independence. It costs €38,000 to breed, care & support a single working dog partnership.
