Story
At age 5 Lelé will be climbing Snowdon to raise funds for Alec’s Angels.
After hearing mummy talk to someone from Alec’s Angels, Lelé said “mummy, I would like to help the children” so here we are!
Depending on weather we aim to walk up on a day between 14th - 18th August and will be taking the Snowdown Rangers Route.
What is Alec’s Angels??
In February 2010 Alec, was diagnosed with an astrocytoma, which is a tumour in the brain stem. In spite enduring intense examinations and treatment such as MRI, CT & CAT scans, biopsies, six weeks of radiotherapy and six months of chemotherapy Alec always remained cheerful and more concerned about the other children that he came across with cancer than himself.
The selfless concern was so inspiring to those that met him, that following his death Alec’s father Brian set up Alec’s Angels to raise funds in support of other children and families going through the same agony of childhood cancer.
One of the aims as specifically requested by Alec was to make children suffering from cancer SMILE. The other is to support the families who, as Alec’s parents know too well, find some of the smaller things in life impossible to manage when dealing with childhood cancer.
The charity has supported children diagnosed with cancer and their families providing both financial and practical support during the child's stay away from home through collaboration with Helen & Douglas House Hospice, and CLIC Sargeant at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The charity also supports children when at home with trips out and gifts.
You never know what life can bring so hold on tight to your little ones, try to make the most of each day amongst the hustle and bustle of everyday living and please please sponsor Lelé, whatever you can. Help her to put a SMILE on some very poorly children’s faces and also their families.
Thank you
Lelé’s Mummy & Daddy xx
