Steve Wakley and Jon Avery's challenge ride
We are planning on an unaided trek from Lands end to John O Groats starting on 27th May 2010 carrying nothing more than a couple of spare inner tubes some clean shorts, and a pair of flip flops for formal evening wear.
No back up and no backing out. 100 or so miles a day for 9 days.
We chose the Prostrate Cancer Charity because Jon lost his father to prostrate cancer and my father was one of the lucky ones to survive the treatment and now leads a full healthy life.
- Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
- One man dies every hour in the UK 'Don't let prostate cancer hide' is this year's campaign to help get prostate cancer out in the open. It's a hidden cancer because not enough people talk about it. We can't see the prostate, and many people don't even know what it is or what it does.
- Prostate cancer may cause similar symptoms to noncancerous prostate problems. Some men with prostate cancer may have no symptoms at all.
