Story
In June 2021, I will be trekking Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world. I am both excited and humbled to be taking on the most difficult challenge of my life. This gruelling trek will take me almost 20,000 ft above sea level, testing my mind and body to the limit of what is possible.
Why am I doing this crazy feat? A group of 42 passionate people from around the world and myself have come together, to work alongside Human Appeal, to raise £150,000 to provide Emergency Humanitarian Aid around the world.
Everywhere we look, the world is in crisis:
- Yemen is crippled by six years of conflict, famine, and disease with over 24 million people needing urgent humanitarian aid.
- Syria has millions displaced due to the nine year long conflict.
- Gaza in Palestine, according to the United Nations could become uninhabitable by the end of 2020.
- Iraq continues to experience an unstable and critical humanitarian situation with 6.7 million people needing immediate assistance.
- Rohingya refugees, described by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres as the most discriminated people in the world.
- Refugee camps around the world are further aggravated by the threat of coronavirus upon their lives.
This winter give the gift of warmth to the people of Rohingya, Yemen, Gaza, Syria, Iraq and Pakistan and the street children in Bangladesh. DON’T let them FREEZE, ACT NOW!
This winter as temperatures plummet, millions of displaced people in refugee camps and conflict zones will have to battle the cold weather conditions. Already struck with homelessness, hunger and unsafe living conditions they are at high risk of a deadly virus, COVID-19.
For children living and working on the streets of Dhaka, winter is a particularly challenging time. On the streets, the children are homeless, ill-fed, ill-clothed and devoid of parental care. Barefoot and typically with just one thin layer of clothing to their name, a cold winter’s night is a considerable hardship and increases the risk of children falling into unsafe practices as a means of generating an income or to stay warm, making them extremely vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.
Rohingya Refugees - £70 will provide a vulnerable Rohingya refugee family with an Emergency Winter Kit, containing nutritious food, a warm winter blanket, and covid-19 safety items, including face masks, hand sanitisers and washing detergent.
Gaza - £100 will provide a vulnerable family (5-7 people) in Gaza with a Winter Kit containing warm winter clothing for their children, including jackets, socks, hats and scarves, woolly jumpers and pyjamas, helping them to survive winter.
Yemen - £220 will provide a Winter Kit to a vulnerable family (5-7 people) in Yemen, containing warm clothes, blankets and mattresses for the whole family, helping them to survive winter.
Syria - £140 will provide an Emergency Winter Kit to a vulnerable Syrian family, containing warm blankets, sleeping mats and rugs, shelter reinforcement, fuel for heating, and soap, helping them to survive winter.
Bangladesh - £100 will provide Emergency Winter Kits to 5 vulnerable children living or working on the streets of Dhaka containing warm winter clothing, helping them to survive winter.
Iraq - £100 will provide a vulnerable family (5-7 people) in Iraq with an Emergency Winter Kit containing warm blankets, mattresses, stoves for heating, jerry cans for fuel, and handwashing soap, helping them to survive winter.
Pakistan - £80 will provide an Emergency Winter Kit to a vulnerable family (5-7 people) in Pakistan, containing warm winter clothes, like socks, gloves, jackets, shawls and blankets, helping them to survive winter.
Give the gift of warmth - Act now and help save lives and shield the dignity of vulnerable families and children.
