#TeamWomensAid will be running the Great North Run 2021 to raise funds to support women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Story

I've created this page because I want to make a difference. The work that Women's Aid do to help women and children affected by domestic abuse is important to me. I went through one of the most challenging times in my life and although when I left I didn’t need to support of Women’s Aid, some people do, I was lucky, not all women in the position I was in are and therefore the work they do is vital especially as cases have increased during the pandemic.

I also used to love running, a lot. I used to run regularly and as my mental health spiralled during my abusive relationship I stopped, just like I stopped a lot of things I love. So now I’m running again and I love it! I’m back to going regularly and it being a big part of my life and enjoyment.

So I’ve set myself a challenge and I wanted to raise money for them as part of my participation in the Great North Run 2021.
