Story

In  June 2013 my Father, Richard McCarthy, was diagnosed with cancer. If it was a fair fight he would have won, no doubt about that. Unfortunately Cancer breaks the rules, goes two on one, leads with an elbow, kicks you whilst your down. My Father fought as hard as he could for as long as he could. He lost the battle and passed away on July 18th 2014 in St Peters Hospice.

When you spend time there,  you realise what a fantastic place it is. The facilities, the surroundings and the staff. It all makes it, just a little bit easier. Whilst there i made a promise that i would do something to raise money for St Peters, but that it had to be something that people would look at and say, fair play, that's not easy, he deserves some support - hence signing up to do the Bristol to Bath Marathon.

Bit about me - prior to Xmas i was nearing 17st. Hadn't ran since Sept 2013 and had a hip operation in July 2014. On top of that i have Rhumatoid arthritus, so a few things to contend with. Luckily i still maintain my charm, humour, hairstyle and good looks!!

So, on 25th October i will be running, i say running, it's more likely to be a trot, jog, canter, ...... ok, fast paced walk.....but i will do it.... so if you can support me it would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks
