I'm running two half-marathons to raise money for Tommy's in my babies' memory.
On 20 February 2014 my son Hugo was born 16 weeks prematurely because I had the rare, life-threatening pregnancy complication HELLP syndrom. I nearly died of multiple organ failure, and Hugo had to be born to save both our lives.
Sadly, Hugo died 35 days later.
Two years later, in July 2016 I experienced a complicated missed miscarriage of my much-wanted second child.
I am fundraising for Tommy's to support research into conditions such as HELLP syndrome, prevention of miscarriage, and to help save other babies' lives in my babies' memories.
The first half-marathon is Bedford on 2 September, and the second is the Royal Parks Half on 14 October. These are two events I never imagined I'd enter - running helps me manage my mental as well as my physical wellbeing - it helps me celebrate being alive, and the privilege of having a strong body.
I'm sharing my training progress on Twitter and Instagram - @leighakendall
