I'm running the Bath Half 2023 for the RUH

Fundraising for RUHX
I am hoping to raise money for the RUH where I work as a nurse by running the Bath Half Marathon so that we can provide those vital extra comforts and facilities for our patients to make their time in hospital as pleasant as possible.
The money raised will go to buying a vein scanner for our department which would bring many benefits. Most importantly it would greatly reduce pain & distress for patients with difficult veins who often need several attempts to cannulate them, especially those with needle phobia. It would also reduce the time taken to cannulate meaning more patients could be treated.
Having started experimenting with running 18 months ago, I have really enjoyed the benefits of the extra exercise and fresh air and also made new friends along the way. I have been training towards the half marathon distance and it is a great next step to have this as a goal to work towards.
However my running journey hasn't been easy, with ongoing knee problems for which I have also needed treatment from the RUH physio team, who have been excellent and enabled me to continue the sport I have come to love.
I therefore want to give something back so that other patients can be helped too.
RUHX is the official charity of the Royal United Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
At RUHX, were more than a hospital charity. We go further to give every patient the extra extraordinary care they deserve, while supporting our staff to do what they do best and furthering innovation within our hospitals. Were out there in our community, collaborating with the people and organisations who drive real change. And were making sure that every penny we raise goes towards improving health, happiness and wellbeing for everyone in Bath and beyond.
