Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Thursday 19th October 2017 marks 5 years since one of my little Rainbows, Georgie, passed away. She was 6 years old, she was also a twin.

I am doing The Santa Skywalk (high ropes course dressed as Santa) to raise money for Shooting Star Chase Children's Hospice, where Georgie was cared for. I don't mind dressing up as Santa, I do it every year for my Rainbows BUT I am terrified of heights...

I absolutely love Rainbows. I have been running my Units voluntarily for 13 years now. I do it to see the smile on the girls faces when they are having fun, I do it for the light in their eyes when we surprise them, I do it because they keep things simple.

What happened to Georgie will stay with me forever. 5 years old, Cancer, Brain Tumour. These words should not be in the same sentence!

Shooting Star Chase is a leading children's hospice caring for babies, children and young people with life limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, they make every moment count. They support families from diagnoses to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

I was so grateful that Clare, Georgie's mum let me visit Georgie at Shooting Star Chase. I wore my uniform to help Georgie recognise me (She was very poorly) I took her some activities, rainbow badges and a Rainbow doll. I sat with her and made a necklace. She did not speak. A lady came in to play some music and Clare went outside for a while. These were the last moments I shared with Georgie and they were just perfect. Just me and Georgie holding hands and listening to the quiet nursery rhymes being sung so beautifully by the music therapist. I stroked her soft little head and kissed her goodbye. 4 weeks later Georgie died. She left behind her mum, Clare, Dad, Rob and twin sister Jessie. I try to visit Georgie' s grave every year but this year, 5 years on, I wanted to do something a bit different. To show Rob, Clare and Jess that Georgie is still remembered, she is still in my heart and she is not forgotten.
