Cutting it for Chloe - Leigh's Shaving her head!

Leigh Bowser is raising money for DKMS

Cutting it for Chloe - Leigh's Shaving her head! · 15 May 2021

Someone is diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK every 20 minutes, and many will need a blood stem cell transplant for a second chance at life. We are committed to increasing the number of potential blood stem cell donors in the UK, so that there is a donor for everyone who needs one.

Story

10 year old Chloe, Leigh's Niece, has been long awaiting a bone marrow transplant after a life long blood disorder that means her body does not create new red blood cells. This has resulted in over 100 blood transfusions and many years of searching for a bone marrow donor. well...the time is FINALLY here!

Due to the chemotherapy she will receive during the transplant, Chloe will lose her hair. It’s been a huge thing for Chloe, being so young and coming to terms with losing her hair. She has already had 17 inches cut off and donated it to the Little Princess Trust*. Now it’s my turn!

By shaving my head in solidarity with Chloe, I hope to raise awareness and funds for DKMS, a bone marrow register that has been a great help in finding a match for Chloe's transplant.

I will be shaving my head on Saturday 15th May! Any donation, big or small will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks you,

Leigh x

Unfortunately I can not donate my hair due to it's colouring and length.
