Story
This is a fundraising page set up by the family of Leia Godwin following her battle with PIMS/Kawasaki Disease following the contraction of Covid-19 early in 2020. Leia has been left with a lifelong heart condition, and whilst outwardly living a perfectly normal life, still requires care from the fantastic cardiology team at Noah's Ark hospital. Her team of medical staff are absolutely amazing and make her feel at home on every visit but despite having the best staff in the world, there is more that can be done to help with the care of Leia and all the other heart warriors cared for by the team at Noah's Ark.
This fundraising is setting out to raise money to improve the service provision for babies' and children in Wales by purchasing new equipment, (such as mobile ECG devices for patient use and telemedicine equipment for diagnosing heart conditions remotely) research and education activities and to develop a platform for Welsh Heart Families.
There are around 425 babies born every single year in Wales with heart conditions. Noah's ark cardiology team cares for many of these children as well as many children with an acquired heart condition, such as Leia.
Following Leia's initial battle her parents, Hannah & Simon knew they wanted to help and started fundraising under the name BACHIW -Babies' and Children's hearts in Wales, but in order to legitimately fundraise under a registered charity teamed up with Cardiff & Vale Health Charity. A separate financial pot has been set up within the health boards funds, and all money raised by this platform, will go directly to the paediatric cardiology team for use as described above.
Cardiff & Vale Health Charity Number is 1056544.
