Story
City of trees is a great Salford charity full of lovely people, who are really passionate about what they do. They work to transform underused, unloved woodland & green spaces to improve the environment for local wildlife & the people of Greater Manchester. A big part of this is planting trees and managing habitats so that trees can grow as part of diverse & sustainable local eco-systems.
We’ve had some great days out with City of Trees and seen them do all this, as well as really enjoying ourselves and seeing the change their work makes, through bringing groups of volunteers together on local projects. They‘re involved in loads of other school and community work to allow people to reconnect with nature, and learn to care for local green spaces.
Last, but certainly not least they’re helping us protect the planet- with over 500,000 trees planted and a mission to plant 2.5 million more within a generation.
“We just need to plant more trees- it’s as simple as that”- Dr Alice Shelton, City of trees volunteer, Sky News 🤣
