Story
I will be cycling the halow250 for my eighth and final time and the rides 10th and final year for the halow project. Harry the H in halow is my little sister so halow is a charity close to my heart. I see first hand the great work that halow do to support their young people and where the money that the halow250 raises goes. .
This is the ride in 2013 that started my journey on a bike, its has a yearly special entry in my diary so it feels like the end of an era.
Even as a seasoned rider the ride is never easy as the challenges are all on the day so no year is the same, the wind the rain the sun and the ferries all play a big role in the challenge but the camaraderie and support on the ride is unlike any other.
The Halow250 cycle is in its tenth and final year! The monies raised through 2023's event will see a magnificent £1million raised in total for halow project across the last ten years .halow project removes the barriers to opportunities that often face people with learning disabilities. We all want - and deserve - to have friends, to have a meaningful purpose in life, and to enjoy living in the way that we want to. These every day goals can be very difficult for someone with learning disabilities to reach without support - and that's where halow makes the difference. The charity provides much-needed opportunities to socialise, to be part of a community, to develop talents and to learn key skills, and to find opportunities to work or volunteer. Its 1-2-1 support workers, supported living service, educational programmes, skills sessions and social activities enable the people it supports to live rich, busy and fulfilling lives, as independently as possible
