Story
An intrepid (or perhaps just bonkers !) group of four law firm colleagues from Pinsent Masons would like to draw your attention to and seek your support for our fundraising efforts (perched on top of a flying plane) for a great cause.
Originally, we were doing the easy option !!!! (not sure easy is the right word) but now we are doing two flights the second being the mind blowing Loop-the-Loop Wingwalking Experience dressed up as, wait for it, Avengers. Oh yes, you will see Capt America, Spiderwoman, the Green Goblin and Thor Valkyrie soaring through the Cirencester skies.
We are told that we will be gaining momentum at speeds of 150mph, and experience the positive g-force of 3 times our body weight. When we reach 1200ft and at the top of the loop experience (upside down so hoping to be strapped in correctly), we will feel completely weightless before heading down to the bottom of the loop completion. We are advised that this is a rollercoaster of thrills and motions.
Now for a bit about LandAid and why we are risking our necks ...
LandAid Midlands is collaborating with long-established Birmingham Charity St Basils, Homes England and the NHS to develop Phase 2 of its successful Live and Work Scheme in Sandwell, West Midlands.
Live and Work is an award winning scheme, run by St Basils, which has transformed disused nurses’ accommodation to provide both high quality homes and apprenticeship opportunities for homeless young people at a local NHS Trust.
Phase 2 which will convert a disused block into 52 units of brand new accommodation for homeless young people. It is Landaid Midlands aim is working with the real estate industry and other businesses in the Midlands to make this project happen.
LandAid has already part-funded Phase One, refurbishing 32 units, with HRH Duke of Cambridge visiting the project to see the work in progress and give his seal of approval.
The scheme provides both a safe and secure home for a young person who is homeless, and the job opportunities and skills training which they need to move away from homelessness, FOR GOOD.
Of the 70 young people who have benefited from the scheme since 2015; none have become homeless
Over 30 young people have secured permanent employment following their NHS apprenticeships.
Your donations are so important to us to help Landaid and St Basils achieve their goal and create a lasting legacy that will support vulnerable young people in the Midlands for years to come.
