Story
Thank you for kindly clicking the link to my fundraising profile. With your support the Brain Tumour Charity will be able to touch the lives of many people fighting against the evil that is Cancer.
My close friend Andrew (aged 29) sadly passed away on 21st October 2014. It is still very raw for everyone who knew him.
A few years ago Andrew was diagnosed with skin melanoma. This was a huge shock but he took action and seemed to be well and we all believed he had fully recovered.
A few years later, the unthinkable happened and shocked us all. I recall sitting with Andrew at a friends birthday party in September 2013 when he explained to us all that he had been having persistent headaches and made light of it. We said to him that he really ought to see a doctor if they persisted. We never thought that the outcome of this visit would the worst possible. The diagnosis was that Andrew had multiple tumours in his organs which had already spread to his brain.
The last year of Andrew's life had been horrendously difficult for him in terms of numerous drugs he had to consume, repeated hospital visits, and general pain and emotional stress endured as a result of this.
Despite all this pain, suffering and uncertainty, not once did Andrew display any sign of giving up or bitterness. Instead, he displayed tremendous amounts of strength throughout his final months even taking the time to document his journey via an inspiring and emotional blog.

Andrew's battle with cancer was sadly lost on 21st October 2014. However, his spirit, courage and willingness to never give up in the face of adversity is something that has inspired me to take on this 26.2mile run.
I am not a runner. However, the thought of being able to assist others suffering with brain tumours via raising money for the Brain Tumour Charity will spur me on through the cold, dark winter nights.
Every donation however large or small is going to a great cause so thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support.
Love Leena xx
