Story
Head up, shoulders back, stay strong... I'm running my first (and probably last ) marathon in a few weeks time - eek!
I'm running for the charity Cure Parkinson's - not only did Rob's lovely Nan suffer from Parkinson's but also more recently, we have got to know the inspirational Caroline Cockerham, mum of one of the lads in Ethan's rugby team that has been diagnosed too (Cazza is amazingly selfless about all this however, and would likely be keen for me to focus on the cause itself!).
The family, team and parents from the Otley Zebras U13s Team, have rallied together, with seemingly unstoppable force, to form an amazing fundraising group, with the aim of raising as much as humanly possible for Cure Parkinson's.
With the boys having raised nearly £5000 already and numerous other events (!) planned (including a mammoth “Everest Challenge” on the local Otley Chevin, climbing up the North face 18 times), I'm learning the true meaning of rugby family .
I hope I can run my marathon with this same unstoppable drive and inspiration received from this incredible family and group... . (Just hoping I can finish it to be fair, it's a very long way!!)
I'll also be running with Rob's Nan in my . As a family, we are familiar with the disease and it's progression but as you get talking to people, there are many others out there too.
Apparently they are close to finding a cure but it is just funding that is needed to put it in to action. Please help us raise as much money as possible to fight this disease
