Story

In the last few weeks of my Dads life he was cared for at Katharine House hospice. They took care of everything he needed and allowed us to stay with him overnight so we could spend the precious time we had together as a family.

We don't know how we would have coped without the hospice. We didn't have experience with illness or dying. The hospice made the worst experience of our lives as easy as possible, we will forever be greatful. By staying close to the charity it helps us to feel closer to the last few days of Dads life.

We are aiming to fundraise to pay for the costs associated with looking after Dad, to ensure that other people can have the support and care that we received.. Hospice care is one of the things you never think about, until you need it.

*The nurse in the middle of this picture sat with me on the day my Dad first went into the hospice. She told me not to be in denial as this was happening no matter if I buried my head and ignored it. She gave me a firm talking to, which I so needed. I am forever grateful.*

Katharine House provides free hospice care services in Mid Staffordshire for people faced with an illness that cannot be cured. Our aim is to enable our patients and those close to them to live as fully as possible and make the most of the time that's left."The team were fantastic. They helped us to deal with watching our son die and then helping us through the next few hours when we were all numb and not able to think about anything else."-Family of an At Home Team patient
