Please take 2 mins to read about Maddie; On Tuesday 21st October 2014 it was a normal day in the life of Maddie Thompson, a family friend and classmate of my son, Sam. During the day Maddie was doing the usual school day activities and during the evening went to cubs, although complaining of a headache Maddie insisted on going as it was the night the cubs all went swimming. A short time later she was back home as she was feeling too unwell to take part. During the next few hours Maddie got worse and later that night suffered a cardiac arrest. She was rushed to hospital but tragically passed away on Thursday 23rd October. Maddie was a lively and normal 10 year old and I don't think anyone can imagine the pain that her family are going through. After many weeks the coroner has finally declared the cause of death as sepsis but of unknown origin. After many Sunday morning bike rides, Maddie's dad Mark, myself and a few other dads have decided to do the London to Brighton bike ride on 21st June 2015 in memory of Maddie. Please sponsor us and help us to raise awareness of sepsis which is a life threatening condition triggered by an infection. Sepsis is a more common cause of death than breast cancer, bowel cancer, HIV & AIDS and road traffic accidents combined. For more information please visit www.sepsistrust.org
