Story

So the original plan went out the window thanks to Covid, which saw my family shielding and thankfully Ivy staying well.

We needed something more challenging than we have ever done before so we came up with a plan to cycle  2500 miles (just over 4000km) across Europe!!! We will start in Romania and finish back in England.

The trail takes us through a variety of terrains and no less than 10 countries. No doubt there will be up's and downs along the way, but no matter what the country, weather or terrain throws at us,  Ivy will remain at the heart of my motivation.

The trip is expected to take around 30 days, so the challenge also rests with my wife Dorne taking care of things at home, but her love and support is always there, as this is a cause we both feel so strongly about. The family will follow my progress and update via my page.

So many of you will know that since Ivy came along we made it our mission to raise awareness of our daughters condition and support charities that have helped us and those like us along the way...

It’s been a number of years now since we have gone all out to raise big money but 2023 is the year!

We have chosen Heart Link children’s charity at Glenfield.

Our precious Ivy has had two major open heart surgeries at Glenfield where we have had to stay with them for a good month in intensive care before her transfer to Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Glenfield children’s PICU is a place no parent ever envisages being and one that tears your own heart apart.

The expertise of the surgeons, the care of the nurses the skill of the cardiologists the compassion and love showed by everyone is what helps these children and families through the darkest of hours/days/months.

The incredible life saving work that this unit does goes unrecognised until someone close to you needs it. It’s not a world many of us want to think about but sadly it’s a world many of us are familiar with in varying degrees.

Ivy’s third cardiac intervention is not too far away and as Ivy gets older these procedures become harder for us and her to contemplate. Yet we will and we know that with those professionals we trust, those that care so much and those that have walked the last 10 years by our sides Ivy and us as a family know we will be in safe  hands.

We are asking you to support and dig deep once again and help reach our ambitious target as without this incredible place so many parents would not have their precious cardiac babies which we will forever be grateful for with our precious Ivy.
