I am doing this bike ride along with my brother Harry, to support MASKS (Make A Special Kid Smile) as this is a charity which is very close to my heart. MASKS is a small local charity which supports The Vale Federation of special schools (Booker Park, Stocklake Park & Harding House). The charity provides the means to enhance and improve the lives of the students aged between 3 and 19 years who have a range of complex needs. My daughter, Hollie has been at Booker Park school since the age of 5. Hollie has an undiagnosed genetic condition which has resulted in learning difficulties, communication difficulties and sensory processing difficulties which then impacts on her behaviour. Since Hollie has attended Booker Park school it has been a huge sigh of relief knowing that she is getting all the help and support she needs. MASKS enables Hollie and all of the other students to enjoy opportunities otherwise unavailable to them, help them realise their potential by giving them social experiences which will build their confidence, support their educational advancement and encourage as much future independence as possible.
The money raised will go towards new sensory equipment at Booker Park School.
