Story
It has always been on my bucket list to run the London Marathon, and thanks to Refuge I get my chance to tick it off the list. I have only ever wanted to run for a charity to ensure that every stride in training and the marathon make a difference and mean something to others.
Making a difference to others, and doing so in a way that promotes the great work of others means a lot to me, and I will wear the Refuge shirt with pride on October 3rd as a pound the streets of London.
To highlight the difference that will be made to Refuge from your generous contributions find out more below:
One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.
Domestic abuse is another cruel act that has been amplified during lockdown, creating a prison for those that cannot escape it or a more difficult environment to speak out and seek help.
By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence, whilst raising awareness of the work that Refuge do to stop and support those that are impacted by the mental and physical actions of others.
Thank you.
