Story
I did the London Marathon in 2005, my knees quit on me half way round, so I treated the second half as a pub crawl and finished in 6 hours 3 minutes.
I did it again in 2008, my knees got me alittle bit further before giving up, and I finished in 4 hours 31.
I said, 'Never again'.
Then I changed my mind. The two above, you see, commemorated the 25th anniversary of the London marathon and the 100th anniversary of the modern marathon distance.
I decided I'd do London again in 2011, the 40th anniversary of ME!
And then this Brighton one came along. How could I not?
The last 2 have helped me raise around £4,000 for Diabetes UK. This charity is incredibly dear to me, as my cousin Hayley has had her life blighted, interrupted and generally screwed with by this disease, despite following all the medical advice available since she was diagnosed at the age of 3.
Please, if you can, give what you can.
I'm starting a full on training plan in mid-September, with some fairly meagre preparatory training starting...well..sort of now, really. Follow my progress (and maybe be sufficiently amused to donate - I'm quite funny, apparently) at http://www.theargus.co.uk/blogs/blogs/brighton_marathon/profile/34535/. That's right, I'm published!!!
Thanks for visiting. I hope you enjoy the blog.
